Retention starts before day one
Most retention programmes begin far too late — usually once someone has already handed in their notice. The signals that predict whether a person will thrive with you are visible long before that, often in the very first structured conversation you have with them.
RoleWise captures those signals at interview stage and keeps them attached to the person as they become an employee, so patterns between what a candidate showed and what actually happened become visible over time.
Eight moves that work
Give ownership early. Match work to stated motivation rather than to job title. Make feedback frequent and specific. Name the next step in the role before someone has to ask for it. Protect autonomy over process. Review workload honestly at six months. Recognise contribution publicly and correction privately. And revisit the original interview notes at every development review.
None of these requires a budget line. All of them require memory — a record of what the person told you they wanted before they joined.
